In 1985 the "Good Guys" (a group of church leaders) lunched together and were inspired to organize several community service programs to combine resources in order to help more people.
There are always opportunitites to serve as Receptionist, Interviewer, Food Box volunteer, or Meals on Wheels driver. If you own a Truck, you are especially needed on an on-call basis to pick up donated food items! Receive the blessings of service! The reward is heavenly!

Coats for Kids is an annual event to provide warm coats for school age children. Each November, Broughton Recreational Center is transformed into a "coat store" so the experience will be fun while providing winter warmth.
Where do the coats come from?
Participating dry cleaners collect donated new and gently used coats from the public and unclaimed coats from schools. Hats, gloves and jeans have been added to ensure that kids stay warm.
Area retailers sell coats at a discount to LCM so all sizes are available on the "Coats for Kids" day.
Who can participate?
Anyone with a school age child can participate. The child must be present to receive a coat.
How can I help?
You can help with the Coats for Kids program by collecting gently used coats or jeans during the year, especially small child sizes, and donating them at designated cleaners in October. A list of participating cleaners will be published in September.
You can also help by sorting and organizing the donated clothing and for creative types with retail experience, creating the "store" for the shopping experience.
Saturday, November 10th we distributed 943 coats to children that were present.
- 451 families
- 1000 items were given out which included 1 light weight coat, 1 heavy coat, a pair of jeans, a cap, and gloves
Approximately 100 more coats have been given out to children who were unable to attend on Saturday.
