LCM's Vacation Bible School Can Drive

Make VBS extra special this year, help Longview Community Ministries assist families with VBS (Very Basic Supplies)!

LCM invites your participation in a new endeavor…a Vacation Bible School Food Drive. Participating churches will be assigned a particular food item that is a staple in its food boxes, and is in short supply. VBS classes are encouraged to build a CanStruct structure with their assigned food items for added fun, and maybe even a little friendly competition. CanStruct is certainly not required to participate in the VBS food drive!

LCM's Red, White & Blue Jean Drive star-stripes

Longview Community Ministries needs your help for our first ever Red, White and Blue Jean Drive! A Red, White and Blue Jean Drive has been held by one of our partner churches for many years, and we would love to see it expand throughout the community! We are asking church congregations to collect new or gently used jeans until the Fourth of July. These jeans will be distributed to school aged children at our Coats for Kids event taking place on Saturday, November 8th at Broughton Recreational Center from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm. Longview Community Ministries provides other items at the Coats for Kids event, including hats, gloves, a light coat, a heavy coat and blue jeans. Many times we run out of smaller children’s jeans within hours of the beginning of the event. We are requesting your help in collecting jeans so that all children might be able to take home a pair.

 Meals on Wheels

Longview Community Ministries has openings for delivery drivers in its Meals on Wheels ministry.  MOW volunteers are a part of this ministry and without them MOW would not be possible.  A healthy meal is delivered to Longview’s homebound elderly and disabled through this ministry.  Volunteers not only deliver a daily meal, but a smiling face and kind word as well.  This daily visit is oftentimes the only personal contact of the day.

If you have a couple of hours in the morning, once a month (or more), please contact Rebecca at LCM,  903.753.3561, ext. 203.
