coats are cleaned free of charge by area dry cleaners and donations are used to purchase additionally needed coats in the smaller sizes.

In 2007, approximately 900 coats as well as blue jeans, shoes, and hand-knitted caps were distributed to needy children in the Longview area. There are many volunteers who make this project possible.

The Classroom Challenge was again sponsored by KLTV Channel 7. Area schools competed to collect the most number of coats to donate to COATS FOR KIDS. In 2007 Pine Tree Middle School campus was the winner, and will be home to a traveling trophy donated by A#1 Trophies & Plaques until the next COATS FOR KIDS Classroom Challenge coming in Fall, 2008.
